Stimulus image examples

One thread of our research is to explore how we can use visual images, short clips of video, tangible works of art or other artefacts to activate different areas of the brain, to take attention in a new direction, to trigger new connections or to spark the imagination. Some lesson plans and suggestions for learning activities can be found on the learning materials page for you to try out and adapt. Here are a few randomly collected images to get you started.

Imagine giving learners any two of these and challenging them to think of five connections between them...then from sharing these links with a partner, discuss some wild and imaginative solutions to a real social or political problem...somehow your solutions must be related to the links you just discussed. Then sketch your best solution and see if others can guess what it is...one way to encourage creative thinking?
